    The BushChook

    Gidday Fellers and Fellets
Been reading up on here for awhile to pick up what knowledge I can, finally got around to joining.
I've been shooting bunnies and possums for many years with air rifles, and also have been shooting compound bows, but have gone for my firearms licence finally.
Trying to establish a good understanding of what I'm getting into before being a liability in the bush!!
I'm involved in 4x4 and trail riding and other outdoor activities, so I'm excited to get into another outdoor related hobby.
I'm in CHCH and I am interested in joining a club/range and happy to take recommendations for that, and will be pouring over the forum for all other advice I need before going out on the hunt.
    Cheers

    Welcome.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

    Hi Bushchook.
Come out to the NZHA range on public nights, Tuesdays from 7pm. 597 McLeans Island Rd.
Clay targets and rifle range. We have club shotguns you can use. You can shoot as often as you like as a visitor or choose to join if you like what you find. Plenty of knowledgeable R.O's to answer any questions.

    Thanks,
I'll definitely come check it out in a couple weeks. Sounds like fun.
The dude at the mountain safety course said they have rolling targets (like bunnies) that's something I'd be really keen on.
