Hi, I've been away for quite some time, thought I should "re-introduce" myself, so to speak. Been busy, left the country for awhile to go home to visit family. As to the "Raven Story"...
A couple of years ago, I was enjoying a nap in mid-afternoon, patio doors open, cool breeze blowing, music playing in the background......oops, started getting sleepy there for a minute! Anyway, in mid snooze, a rather large raven jumped in to the bird feeder, (which is made from a breaking disc plate for a weather cover, and a breaking plow furrow wheel for the base and feed holder, is around 24" in diameter and 24" tall, had to be set up with a tractor) Anyway, he starts squawking at me, wouldn't quit, so I thought, "okay, thats it, he's outa here!"(we are/were allowed to shoot them on private land) opened the safe, took out the H&R Buffalo Classic in .45-70, dropped in a 300 grain hollow point, and let fly....at about 30 feet. Well, the results were quite spectacular, to say the least. There were literally pieces of that bird for 50 feet around the feeder, the downy feathers were floating in the air for quite a while. No more ravens in my yard for the rest of the summer. Had to clean the bird feeder with a pressure washer.
Hope this doesn't offend anyone out there in forum land...![]()
