Hello from Waianakarua North Otago, getting back into hunting after many years away
Same. Welcome aboard!
Hi WH.
Same...I am in Milton. I am just getting back into it as well. Maybe we should get together for a wallaby hunt?
Hi Whippethunt not far for a bit of hunting in the reserve for you
Only every walked it, never hunted it, maybe in the winter when it quiets down
I'm a wee drive from a wallaby, and not really that interested in shooting animals I won't eat ,but cheers anyway
G'day mate
Took the gun for a walk today in the reserve ( last minute change of plans because of the weather ) seen heaps of sign both pig and deer, we sacred an animal on the track on the way out, I need to spend more time up ghere and get to know the area better preferably with someone who knows the area well
time is everything,
Welcome aboard @Whippethunt do you own whippets ? we have 4 in our stable currently.....the wife has a sickness for them they are "dogs" of leisure.
Yes we have now only a whippet x greyhound (lurcher we bought him from Oxford), a whippet x staffy, and a Bearded collie x ,great on hares and rabbit's, lost two of my best dogs last year to old age, and yes they love to lay around when not hunting
Small world we are from Oxford, we do not breed though. Great family dogs, will tske them on a rabbit/hare hunt one day.
Here is a pic of our 4, the black boy is entire and we hope to breed from him at some stage.

Welcome aboard.
Need a local gathering. I can provide venue.
@Pengy
whats in the mix if you know mine has the same build, stands about the same height as an 18month old lab
but they way she stalks and then turns animals round to bring to us isnt typical of terrier or whippet i think
She is a rescue from a young pig hunter in HB mate. Breed mix unknown but I suspect Pointer/Whippet/Staffy
Typical Greyhound style of gait when at speed. She is becoming a good indicator, but is mainly just good company, unless you are a possum/rabbit/goat...then she gonna kill ya
heres my girl

That's a whole lot of trouble for a hare with the right training, they are accident prone and expensive at the vets we have spent over 5k on our old falla ,you name it he's done it ,he now has 3 legs and still catches hares and rabbits 2 in the last 3 days
They are fantastic natured dogs, and even though his entire his never been aggressive
