Welcome
Welcome..........
Find a clay target club and give your new 20ga a whirl
Welcome Mary.
Lots of good advice on here once you put it through the BS filter.
Head out to Handloaders Range on any Tuesday evening and have a go with the shotgun for $5 per session. ( A session of clays is Ten turns at shooting one or two clays with some helpful instruction) Thats 50c per clay and they are pretty helpful. I am sure there are a few other clubs around that members will be able to point you towards that will also welcome new shooters.
NZ Deerstalkers also does a HUNTS course (or at least they used to, pretty sure they still do) that would be worth joining for. It is a fairly good intro into hunting and firearm use and operation.
Probably a good idea to join up with a club.
What sort of shooting do you want to try? Target? Clay? Hunting? Depending on what you want to get out of it, different clubs have different focuses so some may be better for what you want than others....
Either way; welcome to shooting.
i agree with tim if not only just to meet fellow christchurch shooters
Tons of tips on here. No question too silly to ask (but best to search a few key words to see if we've exhausted said subject)
Tip no.1 - NEVER sell that .22. It will always be fun to shoot

Id like to at some stage be able to hunt deer, pigs, birds etc (food) but i'll start with your suggestions first and go from there :)
