Thank you all for the opportunity to swap thoughts!
I have been hunting for 30 years, done some hunting abroad.
Currently shooting 25-06, BSA with Ruger no1 barrel.
It was my first rifle…
Look forward to learning some new things!
Cheers

Welcome to our merry band of misfits!
Welcome aboard
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Howdy. Welcome.
I know a lot but it seems less every day...
Hi there
How does your BSA with the Ruger No.1 barrel perform?
Shoots fantastic for my work, mostly out to 200yards.
My trouble at the moment is finding a new scope for its 1inch rings.
Took enough looking to find the rings…
Has a 3x9 leupold, wanting a 3x15 to help on chamios at 3-400yards
but not so keen to go 30mm tube yet.
4.5x14 is the obvious but makes the 15 yard close bush shot tricky…
Many thanks
racing limits challenges you
Welcome.
Re scope, If you are prepared to compromise a little, I've got a 3-12x and 4-16x Vixen VI on two different rifles (308 and 222), 1" tubes, great scopes for the money I reckon if you are not after a dialable scope. One thing I've found is that at first/last light you are still limited to around 6-7x mag with a 40-44mm objective to get best clarity, so the higher zoom is only useful during daylight (or at the range).
Cheers bjp, I will look into the vixon.
I haven’t had any problems with low light yet,
I do have a Ruger m77 mark 2 in 308 I do most of my bush shooting with.
It has a leupold 2-7 on it, good for the roar and general bush shooting.
Welcome...there are a few, very few 25/06s kicking around the show quietly( or if non suppressed very loudly) knocking over animals still.
