    Howdy rowdies

Joined a few weeks ago to find tips for my first serious rifle (T3 308) and first deer hunt (Kaimanuas). I haven't been disappointed with the good mix of info and piss-takery.

After five years wishing I spent more time out doors it occurred to me that no one was stopping me... So I quit 9-5 engineering work and currently enjoy being retired (until I get bored or run out of money anyway, probably the second one). Gotta make the most of my 20s before the modern city lifestyle thieves off with health and youth!

This is me, looking mean in the Kaimanuas (I'm not really mean though, it was just the bright sun).

...The deer weren't frightened, most heard me crashing about miles away. I did come within a few m at three points though. I could hear them three or four metres away behind thick bush but couldn't see until they high-tailed it out. Now I'm hooked and off again around the 28th, might try west of Ruapehu next for the semi-alpine experience. I'm satisfied just crashing around outdoors for a few days and getting lucky is a nice bonus.

I'm keen for some social bunny-busting around Auckland too so if anyone knows who I could have a chat to about that please PM me... I'm: responsible, familiar with arms and farms having grown up on one, and not an idiot. You get the idea!

Good on ya Brodster. Glad you are getting out there as it takes time in the hills to ultimately get you your first deer.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Ha ha I love how Mrs Dundee 'likes' the post about the marrage etc getting in the way. I hear she's a bit of a switched on fisher-lady.....watch out Dundee!!

Well put Scouser... Once in a while I catch myself thinking 'I should have started this years ago', but that kind of thinking will catch you at ANY age... the best time to start is NOW!
