Our mountains are volcanoes. Yours aren't.
All 2 mountains you have up there, puff a little smoke from time to time, but they still don't have any brothers and sisters (or Tahr, or Chamois either ).
On reflection, VC is right- we are way overcrowded, better stay away, two people in the Macualy (or Godley or Dobson or Rangatata or.........sigh, so many choices!) river valley is one too many, no elbow room at all!
scouser -ya should know ,thats very hard when VCs on his motorised Zimmer frame!:ORLY:
Lol I know the feeling, I used to dread going into town at 5pm when I was living at home in Morrinsville, didn't like the rush hour traffic.
Now I have lived in Christchurch and Auckland, I will happily drive into Morinsville on at 5pm and be over whelmed with joy that I only waited at the stop sign for 50 seconds!
Hey, @257weatherby, there is nothing wrong with our mountains up here on Pig Island...:D:D
Coming from Scotland i would still say make the move. Never have i felt more at home than here. No pretentious bullshit, scuse the language, and people get along. Hell they even say hi. As for the hunting it is second to none. Short travel, high rewards and plenty food on the table, unless you want snapper then you might be left feeling a little peckish if you have an appetite. Lifes good, people are nice (remind me of folks from the north of Scotland: can't understand them and inbred  but the best hospitality you can find). Seriously i wont go back to Scotland, i know most of these people may be disappointed by that :P but home is here. There are reasons NZ kicks arse, just come find out for yourself.
No shortage of snapper here mate, just have to know where and when, Rags in early summer, gulf same time and east coast summer,, fill your fridge up !!!!
