New to forum and hunting
Hi all,
I’m Doug, 39 and from the UK- arrived in NZ just before lockdown and Christchurch based. Hadn’t done any hunting prior to coming here, went on a mission with a local and shot a .270 a few times, and then after a fairly long and (mostly) patient wait got my licence and just bought a .308 Tikka Strata with a VX 5 scope.
Been looking at the maps and current plan is to get out with the binos, do some leg work and hopefully find a decent spot or two.
I’ve joined the NZDA- keen to get out on some missions and meet some ‘good buggers’ as you guys say here!

Welcome aboard. Your plan is sound. Take it easy with rivers and weather. Use your current Bino's till your eyes get sore, then buy the best possible ones your budget doesn't allow (unless you are already running top quality glass haha) . Most of all - Enjoy!
