Newbie saying Hi
Hi there
New to hunting and motivated by my soft southerner (Southern UK obviously), liberal, new age, city dwelling ideals of ethical food harvesting.
As I'm not a fan of the whole industrial meat production process, but I still want to eat it, then I figure hunting wild meat should cover my bases. While also having the added benefit of pissing off my even more liberal, tight jean wearing, tofu eating, hipster city clients in the process.
I'd ideally like to be able to hunt enough larger game than I can rely more on my wild game freezer than the countdown / butcher freezer.
I live in Auckland and have seen somewhere that the deerstalkers do a hunting basics course. Anyone able to give a recommendation or any feedback on that?
Anyway, hi and hope to catch up with many of you online soon.

Welcome aboard, ExPom. I've not done the NZDA HUNTS course personally, but have heard good things from others who have. I guess it how useful it is all is depends on your prior experience in the topics they cover.
How long have you been an "Ex" Pom? It's not mandatory for the HUNTS course, but have you got your Firearms Licence yet?

Welcome :)
Be aware that HUNTS courses can take about 5 weeks to do and need to have the time to make it to the weekly meetings and/or outings :) otherwise I'd say pretty good investment. I think they are already underway this year though?
