Whats the best action camera that can be attached to a helmet or on a headstrap, however it must be able to run for a couple of hours.
Also looked at rifle cams but its got to fit on a Pulsar Duo thermal.
Any ideas.
Thanks

DJI Action 4 has the best battery out of them all and doesn't overheat and shut down like go pros do also has the best stabilization and can do 4k120fps if slow mo is required in the edit no worries there
This is my footage from a Action 3 and its bloody awesome but now have the 4 so better HDR 10 bit colour and bigger lens etc so footage on that is even better(colours low light etc)
This is mine out hunting the output bitrate is alot lower just for file size etc but can be right up there, so you can see how good the rock steady stabilization is give its mounted on my cap its pretty smooth
also has horizontal balance on so always level - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GtNiojH43E

Yep thats what I'm after, good price as well.
How did you mount yours, I gather on a headstrap of some kind.
camera mount screwed to my hunting cap works fine handled dozens of falls and probably 500+km of hunting will post a pic tomorrow
recharges from 0-80% in 18 min aswell so dont need extra batteries unless you dont have 20min to recharge it for another hour(minimum) of recording
just plug in to battery bank while having a brake or durry
also spent 30$ on 2x bike handle bar mount for the action 4's and have them mounted on my 308 bush rifle and .22 for spotlighting

So how long does it run for if left going non-stop.
Thanks.
normal temps like 20-30c over 1hr but thats on 4k120 never record on 1920x180 but alot less information getting written to sd card so alot longer
from dji
"2.5 hours
Ultra-long Battery Life,
With over 2.5 hours of use, never miss a beat. When you finally do need to recharge, fast-charging has you covered. In just 18 minutes, charge up to 80%"
Carbine
I suppose it depends on the size of the SD card as well. I gather the bigger the card the more you fit on.
Thanks.
i have a 256gb hold up to 5hrs of 4k50fps footage so go 512 to have no issues
should mention can also run it of a small power bank as your recording so then it can record as long as the memory card has room, afew guys mount them on their boats and run a usb power supply to them and then use voice commands to record and stop record pretty sweet setup on a boat no bobbing around or any of that with their great stabilization so you dont get sea sick watching fishing footage on your 65" big screen
Carbine
Thanks for all the information, it looks like a DJI action 4 will fit the bill.
I have a power bank so will attach it if we run over a couple of hours and run the largest SD card that is available.
@Carbine will these cameras take an external mike? No biggie but might pick up a camera this week.
yeah mate usb.c to aux adapter is needed for action camera/small microphones or a usb c microphone
here's a clip with the dji action cam 3 - no added microphone just factory microphone to gauge audio quality, now have a dji action cam 4, better vid quality and audio as you can hear with the squealing sika

Thanks Carbine
Picked up an action4 today, micro SD card will be in my mailbox when I get home Tuesday or Wednesday and then the fun begins learning to record and edit videos
@Happy Jack
Awesome stuff mate the one thing i've learnt from filming my roar hunts, normally spend 4-6weeks sika hunting is that dont ignore your inner voice i mean you get to a good looking spot good feed, grass whatever start recording incase anything happens. You've got more then enough memory card space and battery to do it so just do it nothing happens delete it later easy enough but catching the moment when something does is priceless. The times when i didn't ive gotten onto sika, been busted by one whatever and then it too late to record much worthwhile
I can't imagine recording video while hunting, at least not the close range, bush stuff. Well done to you guys that can pull it off. Fishing is easy!
We are going 4 months on the road with our caravan and the idea is to document our trip, some will end up on Youtube but probably not all the trip.
I also have another channel with nothing on it yet but that's for outdoor stuff.
Links will go up once we get going.
@Carbine that's some really smooth footage. Subscribed.
Been impressed so far with the image stabilisation on the action 4 this was shot yesterday while my wife was driving.

Very happy with the DJI Action 4, just received a chest harness courtesy of Aliexpress today. Look out Youtube although I'm not as good as Tasman at making videos.
I have a couple of GoPro 7's. Recording @1440P and 60fps their footage is fantastic. But lordy lordy, how pathetic that GoPro had to go from version 3 to version 11 before the little bastards didn't freeze up, refusing any and all commands till you drop the battery out and replace. VERY VERY shoddy. If I need a replacement it'll be the DJI.
Technology certainly has come a long way since we used VHS cameras to record our shenanigans!

I like how the action 4 has voice command and can be controlled from your phone to set it recording, play back etc. Oh and with Bluetooth 5.0 it reaches out to 240m so they say, yet to test this though.
Yeah, GoPro released have released some downright bad cameras. The Hero 3+ was always a challenge. Was it going to freeze at the critical moment? Exciting! Came right around Hero 7. I think that was a big leap. Have a Hero 11 now and it does everything I could reasonably want it to do. Can't see myself upgrading for a very long time. Ridiculously high resolutions and frame rates mean nothing to most users.
Hi @Carbine. What editing software do you use or recommend with the DJI Action 4?
not much help but i use adobe premier pro, there are some pretty simple and good editing applications but finding one that's reasonable or free is near impossible
here's a start for you

Windows Movie Maker on PC, iMovie on Mac.
I'm editing with DaVinci Resolve 19 the free version, I did try with Shotcut which is cross platform and free but it wouldn't render all the videos properly. I use Gimp which is basically free cross platform image editing think Photoshop but free and as fully featured for image manipulation and making thumbnails.
