Here is my review of the Canon SX740 with a comparison to the SX50.

If the question is solely on resolution, and members are interested in posting representative images, we can build up a bit of a database for answering exactly the question posed by the OP.
The SX740 is small, light, has a great menu layout — it's a pleasure to use. But the resolution is perhaps as to be expected for the size, and in my view is being over-sold by Canon.
