went for a walk today in the hihitahi bush and happened to look up at the hill and seen this beast standing there having a peek at me and took a shot at it with my camera not my gun as it was to big for me to carry out.

All farmed stags look like that until they take the velvet off....here is one we spotted ....He is quite friendly...was not worried about the 4wd and was not far from the truck- as we drove through his paddock to a scrubby area we could hunt pigs.....::thumbsup: The fence is discretely cropped out of shot...Great to look at but shooting him (its not hunting) would seem wrong on so many levels....
Admittedly this one was not cut for velvet that year, but they are kept separated from wild stags---these big guys tend to get beaten up, and if they start fighting when they have been velveted previously they often lost the antler and skull cap in the fight ....
