Pop eye alright! Sure your not holding out with a dirty big stag pic? There was plenty a stag sign the first time we went in?
No such luck.... The other wallow that was a couple hundred meters away was still being used but this one had been left since the camera got put up.... Still has me scratching my head why the wallow is still being used at this time of year. The prints in it are only small and the first time we stumbled on it the marks were big so maybe its a young one having a play while big boy is away???
Any theory's people???
I have no doubt that a stag will show up Gibo!!!
Phil has pics on NI camera of hinds wallowin last Month.
Link???
One of you fullas must of shot that hind and blew its eye ball out with 'the waikato gun' :D

Yep have a look at those pics. All hinds wallowing. There are plenty of other wallows around that area too that are in use. I read in Red Deer in NZ by Lentle/Saxon and they wrote that certain skin irritations (that they reckoned we don't get here) cause deer in Europe to wallow year round. Seems to me like hinds wallow all year round, or at least during winter but for what reason, I'm not sure. Might be a different story with stags that only do it in the rut to up their scent?
Not sure what it is but the hinds seem to love wallowing this time of year
