AR15 with a Proof Research 6.5 Grendel barrel

I got this Proof Research 6.5 Grendel barrel in from the States last week & had all the bits waiting to put the upper together.

I have a few uppers that go one the one lower & share the suppressor with a couple of rifles I have.

The proper carbon fibre barrel looks great, nice & light too :cool:

I took it up the range yesterday for the first time & tried it with some factory Hornady ammo.

I had also chucked some loads together with the 123 Amax & 8208 just under max load at magazine length to try

Looks pretty good to be fair, I hope the 300 Blackout barrel shoots as well :thumbsup:

Nope its better/more accurate, but not as grunty :)

Is it just a matter of a barrel change over or is more involved to swap from a 223 cal to 6.5 grendel on a JP side charging AR?

What barrel length are you running there Greg?

I shot the Grendel I just built today using a case full of CFE. Damn consistent over the chrony, couple of loads had an ES of like 12fps

New bolt head as well and mags. 6.5 G is based on the 7.62x39 which has a larger case head.

Mine has a 24", haven't run it over the chronograph yet. Only just go my 20 MOA mount and need some weather to shoot!

Standard off the shelf 6.5 Grendel 1-8 20" .875 Proof Research carbon barrel, a proper carbon fibre wrapped cut rifled barrel

These aren't a cheap barrel but come with barrel extension threaded muzzle etc ready to fit & shoot.

Had a play with some factory ammo I wanted the brass from in the weekend.

What was the factory ammo? I have to pick up some both for the brass and so I have something to shoot through the rifle as soon as I build it up

Hornady 6.5 Grendel 123gr Amax Match or Custom would have to check the box, but its not available now.
