Whats the relationship between distance travled and force? I.e 100mm= 2 foot pounds etc. (If known) the t3 certainly stands out on that setup

No idea, all I know is that you can feel the difference on your shoulder way more than what any test can show you.

That there is more too it than just physical reduction.

Some of the brakes are just not nice to be behind as the shooter.

Easy enough to work out on a pure distance but possibly maybe skewed by the speed over distance/ time aspect.
Who's got high speed camera gear?

Easier to just put electronic push/pull guage behind it wouldn't it? Peak force would show pretty easy.

Peak force could well be all the same as bullet is accelerated down barrel and before the brake gets any gas to work with.

I'm sure a better way of showing/measuring recoil is available, I have thought of a load cell ?

I did it this way because it was something I could easily/economically do & it appears to work well.

My initial testing with a heavy sled that was extremely repeatable, but the differences were small & hard to visualise on video.

I'm extremely reluctant to try to put a percentage value on brake performance as it changes dramatically with different ammo & calibres fired.

Would need to be something that could show force over time
