Here is another video we made yesterday.
Having a producer really helps sometimes, two heads being better than one & all that.
We sped the video up by editing out screwing on & off the brakes etc, made it heaps quicker :)

I have no doubt that a break reduce recoil way better than a suppressor. But I still think that your test is somewhat biased.
When you shoot a heavy recoiling rifle with a suppressor compared to the same rifle bare, you can feel a significant reduction in the way the recoil act on your shoulder.
You could do the same test with a weight hanging on the front via a pulley system attached to the rifle. The pulley should be on a ball bearing to reduce frictions of course.
The weight hanging could be the weight of the rifle bare for exemple. That way you can test different rifles of different weight with a similar protocol each time. I would be keen to see the results...
How would that be any different to what he is already doing?

I suspect if I added the weight of the suppressor to the rifle with the brake on, it would barely move when fired, it is a heavy bit of kit when attached, ask this guy :)

I could possibly fire it without the brake but the suppressor weight would need to be firmly attached :D

There is two ways of seeing the all experiment:
-you put the rifle on a device as above
Or- you shoot the gun and feel how the recoil is acting on your body.
Now I see a few coming and telling me that the second way can't be as accurate as the first way. Which I approve in a way.
But I ll give you an exemple of something to think about:
You can have a rifle barrelled action in two different style of stocks( I am talking stock shapes here) weighing exactly the same, yet the recoil is going to feel different and be more comfortable with one than the other.
For That, I am not sure the device above will be able to replicate the difference.
