Thats pretty interesting and NZ made ! even better.
Im thinking it could work well in camp to start a meal and leave it for when you arrive back late and hungry in the dark.
I guess if it was cold you could also heap some spare polar fleece cloths around it or slip it into your sleeping bag to increase the insulation and pre warm the bag.
Looking forward to hearing if anyone else has used them and if they really do work.

Get some "aircore" pots, doubled walled. Heat up using the temp gauge on top, turn off and the latent heat cooks the food. Use it for soup all the time, better than pissing round with bags!

You have those small microwavable single serving macaroni and cheese, rice, beans, whatever over there in NZ? I carry those fishing. My wife crocheted me a cozy that they fit in, so all I have to do is dump in boiling water and close the cozy.
I'm given to understand that thermal cookers are popular on private ships and such when the galley cannot be attended all the time, and where a lot of the cooking is done with relatively low BTU alcohol instead of more dangerous fossil fuels and their gasses.
This type of cooking is excellent for lightweight camping as well. You have to carry less fuel and dirty fewer dishes.
