Crockpot Curry - Goat or Veni
I chucked together this yummy train smash the other night. I got most of the ideas from a recipe specific to goat but this time I used venison. I didn't write down what I was doing so hopefully a few days later I have remembered everything ;)
CROCKPOT CURRY
Ingredients:
3-4lbs goat, lamb, venison, whatever
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 can coconut milk
6-10 TBS curry powder
1 TBS allspice (powdered stuff)
1 TBS Thyme
Oil
4-5 spuds
2 large onions
Crushed garlic
1 red pepper
Heat the oil with 4 TBS curry powder and the allspice. Brown the chopped meat in batches, salting as you go. Keep adding the curry powder mix as the pan is depleted. I used Garam Masala as it's my fav curry powder. Set the meat aside.
Saute the chopped onions and pepper in the remaining oil. Add garlic and stir for a few more minutes.
Chuck everything in the crockpot slow cooker except the spuds. Cook all day on low, let it simmer. Add spuds when it's almost done. When the potato is ready, the meal is ready!
NOTES: I also added maybe a cup of water to my mix to ensure that all the meat was submerged. It ended up pretty watery though so if you are keen, maybe chuck two cans of the coconut milk in. Also I discovered my borrowed crock pot wasn't really big enough so I boiled up my potatoes and added them when serving.
Enjoy!

Dougie I think I would have used the goat for the curry. There is something very worrying to me about putting the meat of kings into a curry.

Ha I was waiting for someone to say something!
I repremanded her via tx when she told me the prime steak i sent her home with was in a curry.
Its all good Dougie do what you like with it, at least your eating and enjoying it:cool:

It was rump stuff I believe, Cam why don't you come up here and teach me what to do with the stuff! There isn't much on the interwebs other than slow cooker stuff so I've found. I am lost :)
Re: Crockpot Curry - Goat or Veni
I would love to.
Its all prime steak. Quick fry and salt ;-)
Marinate for something different.
Oxo cube honey lee and perins squeeze of lemon is a good one

Dougie, one day from my death bed (don't hold your breath for this as I intend to be around for a long while yet) I will post my marinade recipe that I have perfected across time along with the instructions on how to use it. The rump from a deer makes great steaks when butchered well and done on the BBQ with Rushy's secret mix, they have been known to prevent restaurant owners from ever eating venison in their own restaurants again (because they cannot match the exquisite taste).
