    Mallard and Quail

Tonight for dinner my family had roast quail and mallards, a huge thanks to gsp follower for them.
The mallards and quail were wrapped in bacon.

Sure was Dundee. GSP follower gave them to me at the end of last season. I've been too afraid to cook them as I have never had a lot of luck with them in the past. Had a looksie at the interweb last night but nothing took my fancy so I just noted a cooking time and temperature and winged it, though I did remember a few details I was given with the quail. Really nice manuka smoked farm bacon too.

Add in some roast spuds, pumpkin, kumera, parsnip and beetroot, Mmmmmm!

Maybe a dash of Barkers Spicy Plum Sauce or some sweet chilly?

When shooting bumble bees there is no need to lead and it helps to line the bead up on the yellow bits.

Tried it for the first time a couple of weeks back. Must say it is a winner, and much better than faffing about bottling.

I grew the stuff here for a couple of years; till I had a sleepout built for an office on the vege garden. Think it's time to sacrifice some lousy lawn for a wee vege patch.
