Do yo need any recommendation for what type of mushrooms you `re going to need? But first, you have to pass the bio security check at the border.
    So be it

Do you have Morel mushrooms in NZ, if not, what a shame, you are missing some of the best eating on the planet.

You know what they say, every mushroom is edible, but some only once.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

FWIW, Shirley, my wife is a highly respected amateur mycologist (BSc, MNZM) who has photographed and identified over 700 different species of mushroom in NZ. She’s found at least five previously undiscovered species, but reckons there’s thousands more out there. Yes, we eat some from the bush, but to me they are basically tasteless, unlike the varieties we consumed in Eastern Europe, where foraging appears to be a regular part of rural life.
She is often requested to inform enquirers as to which mushrooms are (a) the most hallucinogenic (b) edible. In her book ‘A Field Guide to New Zealand Fungi’ she has intentionally avoided both (a) and (b) as she doesn’t want to be associated with someone’s adverse reaction after consumption.

@A330driver I go to Klamath Falls, 2.5hrs south. Intend to return. Will look for morals next time. What time of the year do you find them there?

I take an overnight train from SF. Love the trip. An old Forrest Service culler I know lives there. We take his collection of black guns and pistols into the forrest and blaze away a huge pile of ammo. Great fun.
Im guessing there are mushrooms in that state park.
