Hi,
I am looking at buying a meat thermometer.
It is my understanding that there are some models that can be put into your bbq or oven and connected to your phone to tell you when your meat is done.
What to buy? What to avoid to buy? Any tips how to use it?
I didn't know if it was a good idea to look in this thread or not :)

I know some of the top end ones can also connect to the BBQ controls and you can set the time/temp to self monitor and adjust.
Personally I think the one that connects via BT to your phone and displays the temp would be the most I'd recommend, Maybe 2-4 probes depending on the size of your BBQ/meat.
Just buy one, they’re awesome on the BBQ, I can programme the temp for various meat and the probe sends me the info.

I run an Inkbird one, has bluetooth and 4 probes.
Well priced and works awesome.
If you're on a budget like most of us then get an Inkbird - think they're currently on special. I prefer wifi over BT but that's down to personal preference.

Terry pretty much covered it, i use a little stab in handheld weber one and then i have a 2 probe one that i picked up in SA the other day that has cables attached, it came with a remote though and the remote seems to have a big range, can also set alarms etc.
The wireless ones like Meater are the top of the crop, but i am too tight to fork out for one.
It really makes a huge diffrence to cook stuff to the right temps.
Most of my red meat comes off between 120 and 125°F. Dont know why i use °F but it stuck in my head lol, geuss the same reason so many of us use Yards
Kids gave me a MEATER for Xmas. Never had a dry pork roast since on the Weber.
The little wood case has a AA battery in it to charge the probe

Bluetooth to my phone via the app. Gives rest time for meat. Recommended.
