Glad wrap ? Zip locks?? Who uses what ?
typically zip locks, easy to seal and to write on. Have used the industrial clear box wrapping stuff when doing a whole leg though.
Vege bags from supy or butchers bags
Zip locks for small stuff , vacuum bags for roasts etc
Tim
Have mostly used freezer bags from supy with twist ties. Find you can get all the air out better than zip lock(with meat anyway) and can last months and months in the freezer without burn unless it gets a hole from freezer shuffling.
Just got a vacuum packer as a gift so will report back later in week as to how it went.
I just use bog standard freezer bags, but double bag everything, bit of extra protection against holes. Suck the air out with one of those cardboard hand pumps, and tie a knot in bag to close as some of the sturdier twist tie ends can be good at poking holes in other bags I've found.
Plastic shopping bags
THANKS GUYS
Usually wrap it in butcher paper then plastic. Usually just a supermarket shopping bag.
i vacuum seal everything (red meat, white meat and fish), no freezer burn, and it lasts longer and taste better than freezer bags.
use to buy bulk export meat, this was the only way to keep it good, while getting through all off it.
Butchers paper, then ziplock bags. Easy to label, keeps meat well safe from freezer burn.
I free flow freeze my venison steaks and then pack them in to a plastic container and put them in the freezer. That way I can take out as many as I want from one (never one really) to uber shit loads if there is a spontaneous party
Attachment 17680 I use zip lock bags and a wee trick to get them vac sealed so well, fill up a bucket of water and only leave a small section of the zip not locked, lower it into the water, the pressure from the water presses the air out, lock it off and presto cheap vac packer!
