.22 Voere Model 2107 / Mauser Model 107 magazine release fix needed

I have a Mauser Model 107 (also known as a Voere Model 2107). Back when I purchased it (my first ever rifle) in the mid 1990's I remember Lawrence from Elios Gunshop telling me that the magazine was prone to fall out if the mag release was accidentally bumped. This proved to be correct.

I managed to get a solution of sorts (as an amateur 16 year old 'gunsmith') for this problem, by gluing a strip of lead to the mag release (between the release lever and the magazine) which worked well enough. Anyway, fast forward a decade or two and I picked up the rifle again after sitting in storage at my folks and the piece of lead just fell out (glue gave up the ghost!), so I'm back to square one and looking for a better solution.

My question to all you clever buggers out there, has anyone managed to come up with a fix to the Model 107/2107 magazine release problem?

Put a small cable tie through the mag and then a bit of fishing wire trace from that back to the rifle so that the mag is removable for charging but at the same time is attached to the rifle and cant be lost - without loosing the rifle as well

Mate and his fellow shooters used to do that to their 22s shooting bunnies off the landrover bonnet many years ago.
Lost mag was a real buzzkill
