I've bought a sporterised no4 and a P17 stock from Boyds, no problems.

I think he's looking to restore a 303 to it's original military configuration? I'm looking at one right now but it's $265 shipped within Canada but it might be a task to get er to NZ if he'd even be willing.

Restore it to what? Full wood? and as issued? The front top front woods are easy to get, cheap and no biggee to fit, wood colour matching is the fun bit.

The lower forestock, oh boy is that a job. It is easily the worst woodwork job I have ever undertaken. It is incredibly fiddly trying to set it up and Ive been at it on and off for months. It is a real bastard to fit and have a rifle that shots sub 2inch MOA let alone near 1inch MOA. I hope you are good with a hand chisel. I'd start with the wood under the receiver and main screw, ie make sure the receiver is actually on it for the front 1/3rd and firm. Then move to the wrist and set that up. Then the re-enforce as that sets the nose bearing all the while making sure the receiver is till firm on the wood around the main screw.

I can post some pics if you want.

Buying, some options are Ebay and um Ebay. Tardme has them occasionally, circa $200, you might get lucky.

Points to watch, there is un-issued wood left over from the "south African contract" this is stamped CE1967 and is well, poor colour and I suspect what's on sale are rejects, my one was very poor machining wise but it is fixable. Lots of wood sets via the UK but check the pics carefully.

What is it? ie Savage? Canadian? British?

There were a lot of the first two sent here in 1942 and 1943, especially the Canadian no4 mk1*s. Ask if you need any other pointers I'll help all I can.
