A bit of home brew smithing.....

Got a .410 cheap for the kids but butt was too long so cut it down and sawed a bit of barrel off which has made it a lot handier for the kids.....and me. Then had a hankering to shoot a solid through via the 44-40 route but was advised against it. Some then mentioned slug loads so ok I'll try that. Poor pumpkin didn't know what happened to it.... . So on clicked the light bulb...I need something better to aim with so I'll get a peep sight made up for it. Yeah right the smith didn't want to know about it. Naaah there's gotta be a way......and this was a result

Yeah laugh if you want.......it's a bit hori I know but waiting for some expoxy or solder to join the 'peep sight' to the rib. I will put a shot through it to see if I'm on the right track and if it works it'll be a bit more permanent . Can't show a photo of the front bit as I'm waiting for above mentioned glue n solder. Plus you fullas might need a rest from laughing.....I will keep ya posted.....

Tape is temporary until I can get front sight sorted. If everything works as planned I'll make it a bit more permanent . I could possibly cover that tape with camo tape if it bugs you that much..........

I've seen a few like that before, however they have normally just been seized as evidence

^^^ Gold, I'm not sure using silver coloured tape makes you a "smith". Those "ghost ring" things would be the go

Tac a nut onto the bridge with the mig and build up a bit of weld on the end and she'll be sweet

Unfortunately I don't own a mig nor have access to one. I did think of a nut but was at a loss of how to fix it in place plus what a waste of a perfectly good nut.......
Now for the piece de resistance......

    .....the front bead sight.....

I have put a couple of shots through it doing minute of A4 paper at 20 yards......yeah she's no 200 metre magpie wacker but in saying I had a .223 once that actually grouped worse than this one ...at the same sort of distance but that's another story.

I've glued the rear sight to the rib now and it's had a bit of time to set. So far it seems to be holding ok. Not sure if you can see it in photo but there is hole through the rear sight acting as a 'ghost ring'. There's still some fine tuning to be done, the rear sight will be tidied up when I work out its 'zero' as such.

Jimmy I never claimed to be a smith, just making use of what it got available . Something like I have a plan/vison, bugger all $ and whatever's lying around

May be able to mount a scope too it? I think there are 11mm mounts but maybe put a shim on the sides an it may work for a scope?

Leave the tape, then it is an "adjustable rear sight"
All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.
