    Centrefire suppressor... monocore or cone???

    Hi chaps

I am gearing up to build a suppressor for my new Howa 7mm-08

I have previously built a couple of rimfire monocores and found them very effective.

After a bit of reading I am stuck at a couple of points and would appreciate any input particularly if you "have been there done that"

    Over barrel or muzzle-mount?

Monocore innards or 60 degree cones/spacers?

WHich is likely to be the most effective?

I have read that K baffles dont do so well in centrefire.

With the machinery I have access to I can build monocores or do the simple cone baffle with spacers.

    Thanks in advance

    Tracy

If you can go a mono, or even a baffle can I would go overbarrel for safety (the rear bush holds enough alignment if the can comes loose to prevent a baffle strike) and in the brake section set it up to deflect the gasses in such a way as to self-tighten the barrel.

For the first one, overbuild it and make it quite heavy. Once you've got a design sorted lighten it up not good to pop one in front of your face...

Also, pay particular attention to the sealing of components, leaks = bad...

    Thanks for the suggestion Mauser

I will go overbarrel isolated and 60deg cones with a delrin bushing at the rear for alignment.

What wall thickness should I go for with the aluminium cover tube?

    cheers
