Go kart...for me this time
The kids have done okay lately with various toys I've made them, so in a selfish act...this ones all about me.
The starting point was trademe (where else?) And I brought what I thought was a good start. All I can say is I can't complain about the price...but everything else was shit!

People without any clues, ability or sense of style or purpose should be banned from fucking with anything...yes anything...but especially anything mechanical. I say this because I've just spent about 6 hours trying to cut shit off my gokart that other wankers have welded to it for some reason. To further this conversation, just think 1990's street machine...all those poor defenseless camaro's and Aussie coupes that now have a dashboard from a 1987 Ford laser "grafted seamlessly" into them, or purple and silver geometric camo paint jobs and Boyd wheels. All of the above cost a lot of time and money...and now some poor cunt like me has to undo it all! I'm not against pushing the envelope, or inventing a new style or trend...but those without any clues should be put in a sack and beaten with a stick for even thinking of touching something without a vision or end goal. And so endith my rant... back to the kart.
Awful seat, welded on bumpers, concrete or ventilation mesh... ffs!!!

So that's what I've started this journey with. Now its grinder time!!!!
First up, put the seat on a diet, reshape it to look more appropriate for purpose.

Now, find a body kit and test fit.

Oh that's right it wont fit, some fucktard welded enough concrete reinforcing steel to pour a house foundation on, to the front of the kart. They also crudely tried to raise it by welding the front steering below the frame...not the worst idea, but the genius didn't figure out how the rear would work and gave up at this hurdle.
So I've undone their craftsmanship (honestly looks like a 10 year old with an arc welder turned to 180amps has tried learning to weld on it). So, lowered back to proper height, and a shitload of steel cut off...body kit now fits.

And that's about it for now. Starting to take shape and look the part. I have no intention of racing other people on a track. It's just another fun toy to do skids in with my mates at home.
I'll post more as i progress with it. I'm on the lookout for a motor now.

Go kart...for me this time
You can pick up the blueprinted Yamaha KT100 motors for next to nothing as the class is being phased out, 15hp stock and up to 23hp once blueprinted. Heaps of grunt for playing, not far off a rotax max at 30hp.
Give a shop like Right Karts a ring, they will more than likely have heaps sitting in the back with no idea what to do with them.
Seen a few karts with dual KTs fitted, one either side.
