Generally the worse rusted fixings are close to the flue assuming you have a log burner.The soot contaminants are harsh on the paint systems,but u can upgrade to marine grade galvanizing and painting to prolong fixing life,but comes at an extra cost

What he said @Barry the hunter those saddle washers are integral to keeping your roofing iron on your roof, just get a box of colour matched saddles, with new epdm washers (from memory they come prebonded to the saddles but I've been wrong before and next gauge/length of tek screw, done in a day and you can then focus on more interesting stuff...like guns, whiskey, hunting
