Question Howa 1500 S/A lightweight stock options

Hey guys, with lock down looming over us I have let my mind wander around a fix for my christiansen arms carbon barrel howa 1500 heavy laminate stock problem.
Whilst it's super nice to shoot its also heavy for what it is which kinda defeats the purpose I bought it for, which was wallaby hunting and small game hunting on foot.
I don't really want to spend $1k plus on a carbon fiber stock.
So I found I can buy a howa 1500 alpine S/A stock for $699 which is still up there but a lot easier on the wallet than a carbon fiber stock.
The alpine stock weighs in at 765gms which I suspect is substantially lighter than the laminate stock it currently sits in.
Obviously I would need to massage out the barrel channel as the carbon barrel has a profile similar to a heavy or bull barrel.
Assuming no issues with doing this with the alpine stock ?
Anyone got any other suggestions or an alpine stock for sale ?

I doubt that would be any lighter than the laminate stock it's currently in

Hey Danny, this is my bastardised howa mini action stock. I took 60mm off the forend then put the factory end back on with epoxy.
Attacked with belt sander and angle grinder to get rid of the stupid fat shape.

I started building the first half of a mould this morning. When that's done it'll be carbon fibre layup time.

Ultimately I want to get my 300blk mini action to 3kg carry weight (empty mag)

I have a Howa Alpine in .308, love it to bits, that stock is really good, could tell you all sorts about mine, except for the thing you want to hear..... it's not for sale. Sell the horrible laminate thing and reduce the spend on the Alpine stock. You will not regret it.

I actually like the shape of the current laminate stock, so I'll hang on to it should I ever decide I wanna turn it into a range pig

I'm happy to buy an alpine stock new if need be still at least half the cost of a carbon stock.
