ideas for building a rifle out of stuff i have lying around

so im patiently sitting around waiting to be let out of my cell and my thoughts turned to getting another custom rifle built out of stuff i have in the parts dept so ive got a what i think is a brazilian 7x57 mauser with custom bolt and a timney trigger that seems to like shooting its bullets sideways and barrel seem a bit short for my liking and ive got a ruger american standard 3006 barrel that would be lucky if its had 100 rounds through it so i was thinking maybe a rechamber into something and screw it together if its that easy ive got scope mounts etc if this got off the ground i would probably replace the stock at some stage as well so looking for ideas as havnt really dabbled in 30cal territory

Do It. You know you have to. Keep it as a 30 06 though.

Peen out the front of the Magazine box and mill a notch in the rear of the receiver ring and it will be.

Sounds like you have the makings of a nice Rife,if you need a stock let me know.

Have a Google for ruger American barrel thread sizes and the Mauser receiver thread

If they're not the same check the diameter of the barrel chamber end and the diameter of the Mauser thread.

If there's enough meat in the barrel you may be able to chop the thread. Re thread and re chamber

same diameter but different pitch .
I am not sure if you would have even enough meat on the ruger barrel to cut all the threaded section which is so long with the barrel locking nut area, and be able to push the 308 chamber out without compromising and weakening the front of the chamber due to lack of material?

rugers 1x16 not sure what a mauser is might possibly get away with making it a 308 need someone who knows more about these things to eyeball it i guess

    Evening.

    The sized are as follows:
    Mauser: diameter 1.1" x 12 Tpi(55°)
    Length: 0.65 - 0.7"

    Ruger American: diameter 1"x 16tpi
    Length: 0.695"

The mauser action length wise will take 3006, parker hale was doing it form the 50's. If your game you could rethread the ruger tenon to 22 x 1.5mm, bore out the mauser barrel, thread it 22 x1.5mm you get the idea.
