Savage 99 ,Muzzle recon & barrel thread

I just bought a lever gun ( Savage 99 ) and while the barrel looks ok the muzzle is ever so slightly fucked , I suspect 90 years of cleaning ( tho there aint much evidence of that either ! ) from the muzzle end with whatever . Thing is that the fore sight ( huh ! fore sight , if Id had that when I needed it I wouldn't have this problem now ) is part of the barrel so choppin'off the knackeded bit ( about 30mm ) isn't on . Can the muzzle be "back bored" so to trim out the blunderbuss bit without altering the outside (profile )
This thing has a screw off barrel , hand tight , so it can be taken down , everything Ive read suggests that this is where they wear , to the point that it become unsafe , and apparently 90% of this wear is wallys ( like me ) that unscrew it and clean it and love it 50 times for every shot actually fired ............ so , can I use a bit of super duper Loctite on the barrel threads and just sorta "nip" it up, forget the take down bit ....................and continue to clean it from the muzzle end

yea you can counter bore it no problem, rod woods done it to a brno 308 of mine
I prefer in all suituations to chop the barrel rather than that tho, and its cheeper
ether way it can be done

The takedown barrels are a half twist arrangement aren't they? Can't see a prob with using a bit of locktight but use the standard thread stuff not the super lock stuff.

Nah , this thing has about 8-10 complete turns , and the barrel must come to rest in the right place or the for stock wont fit , its got a sort of a key thing that locates it all

Okay, different than the one I've seen. I'd still only use a weak locktight.
