    Shooting platform

The boys and I went out this morning with some wood and tools.
We now have a couple of seats and a nice stable shooting platform overlooking a clearing 300m away.
Next task: learn my wind calls, and spend some time watching.

If there are any deer around they just get nipped off as seedlings and never establish.
In the ruahines back in the day I carted up a mixed bag of lotus major seed, super and lime to a slip. Never noticed any difference.

Salt just poured onto the ground in or near the clearing and/or molasses in a plastic bottle with a small hole in the bottom of it tied to the trunk of a tree so the molasses leaks slowly into the bark...the lure of salt or molasses need not be in the clearing but just nearby.

I did wonder. The salt lick has promise though.

Years ago we put out salt blocks Whakamaru Road outside Tokoroa at the settling/stink ponds.
Went into Dalgety's and got a bit stumped when asked what we wanted, multi mineral/plain etc.
Then had the girl laughing when we told her they may as well be healthy before things got unhealthy for them.
    They did work.
