    Something very different

    Well Gents (and Ladies),
I certainly have a range of guns go through the workshop, but this has to take the biscuit for being the biggest. It is an 8-gauge industrial gun for cleaning (blasting) in kilns and man is it a beast. Came in for a service, clean up and sort out the sticky trigger, the first things was to get the hoist sorted as you can't lift this bugger by hand ha ha.

After a bit of work it now appears to function correctly though of course live function testing must be done.....its rules :-)

I have added a photo of a standard 12 round alongside the 8G round, yea its big !

Could be a great Possum gun, you just take the tree out and wander over hit the possum with stick ha ha

So, not shoulder mounted then ?
Do you know where if was originally made ?

And, there's nothing wrong with overkill for possums !

Two men spend an eight hour shift blowing rounds into ball of coke inside furnace to break it up,then fire it back up again and back to work...Vs something like six days to cool furnace down, break up coke ball manually then more days to slowing reheat it back up to temperature again. It's a big round alright.

Sadly, like most industrial tasks, it looks like it is nowhere near as much fun as it sounds: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yWVdeA3tUnA

Seen one of these converted into a cannon. Haven't witnessed it being fired, but he regularly does at Antique arms shoots.

Are these still used for cement production? How would one go about purchasing such an item? Make a great little replica cannon!
