    Stalled net gun project

Right roll back a year or two before I had young family and wasn’t expected to be home all the time I spent most weekends shooting goats and selling the body’s for dog food, then I found out live goats are worth more than dead ones,so I got hold of a couple of old 303s and chopped them up and started making up some net guns with detachable net heads which seems to work a treat however finding a net or even the information on how to make a net for this kind of application was hard to come by so I dumped it on the bench to collect dust, I did try a couple of different nets and sizes of net but think the biggest problem is the weight of material used for the net. It’s coming up goat collecting season so if anybody has any experience with net guns or even load data for them that would be greatly appreciatedName: E32DDBB7-D011-4125-A4D0-7F7AEBB63D52.jpeg

@7mmsaum does loads for net guns I think
We've used them on farms I've worked on for catching escape deer of big value in the past.
My only advice is always let someone else fire the bloody thing.

Haha good advice the bolt handle gave me a good wack on the knuckle the first time I fired it can’t imagen what a real load is like. Were they proper factory made guns or had somebody put them together? Any idea of the type of net?

Thanks I’ll give them a go, I have actually brought a whole lot of para cord for that purpous but I have no idea where to start, it looks like tedious work, another thing I heard was dyneema rope

I tried search Nelson decoro but can’t find anything, I did try Decoro in the Mt Maunganui but the could only supply me with trawler net which was to heavy and to many knots the weights would rip through them

Yea I did but there rectangular otherwise I would give it a go, the other on was a dyneema hand casting net but it’s round a bit of money to spend just to “try” if it works

I wouldn’t have the time to train a dog, I did think about training a dog to hold until I could grab it, probably couldn’t sell them if there all maned though

Yea I did have a watch of some YouTube videos on how to make them and brought a whole lot of para cord to make one up but I think the knots mite slip, even if they do though probably not a big deal long as it slows it down for five seconds or so long enough to grab them, Was going to shoot off the back of the ute plenty of goats on the road side

Status guns in Invercargill say on their website that they do live capture guns - I haven't dealt with them personally before but it's a possibility

@Chippychow for the the effort in trying to catch them live having to keep them in a (goat) stock proof paddock till the works will take them or a goat buyer will pick them up you might find it easy to shoot them for pet food. There is a guy out ormond that buys goats etc not bad money i heard. In saying that there's nothing like finishing a project.
