Spiral pointed tap set for the M8 thread. I tapped one coupling with these and one with a traditional tap and with the spiral. The spiral was easier and did a better job, $6.29USD a set (HSS).

Couplings, 8mm x 6.35mm $3.15USD a pair. I drilled the 6.35mm hole to 6.5mm before tapping, as I didnt have a 6.75mm? drill but this did OK.

Hi, I was leaving that bit for a little later as I only have an Arduino mega which is overkill for this job. (A Uno r3 is on the way for about $4US). I'll post the assembly when its "fit" but here is the general idea. microprocessor, LCD shield, driver unit which drives the two motors and a PSU off TM with a 2 way splitter off aliexpress.

Its 12v input so yes a car battery will work as well.

what I find "awesome" is the price of these components from china, this is then the true price that our well known retail brands are paying to make retail items we buy, they then on sell them to us for an astounding profit. What hacks me off is they are all but un-repeairable and have a carefully set lifespan, where after a few years you get ripped again!

Yes, the ticket get clipped a few times on its way to the consumer. Ask any farmer what they get paid, compared to what the consumer pays. The manufacturer and consumer both lose...the middle is always where the profit is made, and it's made by those with the least amount of input...cruel world sometimes.

Yes, exactly. So to control a microwave with an Arduino would be about $20 so a dedicated curcuit way less. The silly thing is for the $250 the microwave could be built with an arduino making its repair cheap and easy, but no we have to throw it away and buy a new microwave.

PS I am currently looking for Nemu 23 stepper motors for a CNC router I want to make, $45US each for 4, want 100? way cheaper yet.

Thanks I have a 3D printer electronics setup coming, a 4 axis controller shield and 4 x 2A drivers with an arduino coming, cost me $11USD! I was thinking I'd make a 3D printer but thinking a bit more I realized I might as well make the CNC as it will do more. Got a link for what they are?

This one cracked as I did it up in a couple of spots so I'll order a 5mm thick acylic piece from the above. In fact 2 as I want a base plate for the arduino.
