There is an older thread here comparing the various 6.5's, anyway from memory 'Wingman' had great success with the 6.5x47. Better velocity than a Creed or the 260 with lighter bullets.
So for a light recoiling short lightweight rifle it appears the 47 is the best choice (behind the 250 3000 AI) with 120 grain class bullets or maybe a 100 gr Barnes ?. Inside 250 metres it would be great. The 260 or creed are better for the heavier bullets but that means more powder and recoil.
6.5 creed, 2.7kg as you see it. Mag length 130s at 2700 into less than an inch with bugger all buggering around.
Whole thing owes me less than 2 grand

@Nick-D Nice, what did you cut the barrel length down too?
Shut up, get out & start pushing!
Mines a hunter, cant remember exactly but pretty sure it was 350 odd grams worth, definitely significant. more than the weight of the wee vx3 that sits on top. Think i put like 10 grams of foam back in to replace it.
The sceptic in me wants to say they used a heavy fill to justify the extra cost of the montana's composite stock. The barreled actions are identical as far as I can tell
@25 /08 IMP - What is the weight of your 260 carbonlight?(bare rifle) I have a 7mm mag carbonlight, potentially looking down a similar track to danny
Can I suggest something that hasn't been mentioned before as an option??? ...... Why not one of the Bergara Extreme Rifles in 6.5CM?? Chuck it in a manners stock and away you go. Ryan on here had one in .308 and he gave it pretty good wraps. he might be able to tell you what it weighed with the manners on it. And the barrel is already threaded and at 18".
I'm sure that will do all that was on your original wish list.
