Can not wait to see what you end up doing with that...what scales...does it deserves a brass hilt ,what style sheath etc etc
I need to find the perfect wood yet.
The bladesmith from france who forged it got a terrible injury on one of his Hands and this will probably be the last blade he will ever forged apparently.
I'm seeing swirly grain and yellow/ gold colour with black flecks almost glowing ....maybe Toyota burr??? Maybe some of the stabilised scales...but yes definitely in glowing deep luster yellow wood.
This is the site of the French bladesmith :

This pair of knives has the Mini Skinner for a grandfather in the Czech republic and the EDC for his new grand daughter here in New Zealand. Both knives have curly Macrocarpa handle over curve backed buffalo horn on 1084 blades. in initialled sheaths with attached honing steels. The engraving was requested with the recipients name and he also wanted the Von Gruff NuZ on the reverse as the nuz is the Czech word for knife and by capitilising the N and Z with lower case u made it New Zealand as well as knives so a nice play on the lettering.

Another pair away to the US, with the first being an Old Western Hunter with a very pretty set of amboyna burl scales with engraved 1095 blade in open top sheath and the other is a Prefessional Hunter EDc with OD canvas micarta over natural canvas micarta curve backed bolster on the 1075 blade in a closed top sheath.

This pair away to the US with one being a vintage file found on a hunting block the father and son had hunted for many years. Originally 3/8 thick it was ground down to 3/16 to become a Professional Hunter EDC and with a light claying of the blade a faint hamon was achieved. It has a Tasmanian Blackwood handle over curve backed buffalo horn bolsters and in a left hand open top sheath.
The second of the pair is a low layer carbon damascus blade of the same PH EDC pattern but with a mammoth ivory handle over buffalo horn bolsters and ain in a right hand open top sheath. There is engraving on both blades to complete the package.

For many years I have had a liking for the shape of the ancient Greek Kopis and the Kukuri and have made a few Kukuri's so a month or two back I found a very nice picture of a Kopis and had it printed to be the same dimensions as the measurements noted in the video but it had a 16 inch blade so I modified it somewhat by shortening the blade and having a slightly less pointy tip to it. This is what I came up when marked onto a piece of 4.5mm 1084, (520 gram) and then after grinding (420 gram) so after hand sanding and fitting the brass bolster it is as it is now.. I have a nice piece of Maple that I will darken a bit and have a buffalo horn pomel so it has a nice colour change from light to dark along the handle and also with the balance being more suitable for a nice bush knife/light chopper.

Got the Kopis styled bush knife done after deciding to do both bolster/finger guard and the pommel in brass. Really quite happy with the results and while I will proably never have a use for it I did enjoy the chalenge of bringing it to completion.
