Are you talking about fullbore or smallbore ?
If fullbore, phone Mike Collings (Collings Guns), or talk to someone at your local NRANZ club (see https://www.nranz.com/associations-a.../member-clubs/)
A lot of the older 308 target barrels are 1 in 14 twist, so not suitable for stabilizing anything heavier than 155 gr

@csmiffy, much easier to find 30 cal barrel than 7mm.
Most of the F-Open boys use their old barrels for fire-forming, so unlikely to get one there.

30 cal fine. 7mm just another option if it came up.
Id even consider a 6.5 barrel for a 264 win mag but I've got a 270 project sort of underway so a bit too close to muck around with really.

I'm contemplating taking the 13 twist, 27 1/2" 30 cal barrel off my Omark target rifle.
Last rework was done by Mike Collings in 1994 - according to Ross Collings (Collings and Bradey), who did some work on the stock recently.
As its a little 'smoked' on the start of the rifling (chasing the rifling at 80.02mm CBTO), it's time to 'bite the bullet' and think about a rebarrel.
If intending to use heavier than 150 gn bullets (Max I used was 168gn - and not shabby, but looser groups), in a hunting rifle, then this won't be much use to you.

yup I had a chat to him myself and he is looking for a suitable barrel for me as well. Like WallyR said though, Mike told that that they are all likely the wrong twist.
He did tell me he was looking for a barrel for a dude and he would see what he had while he was at it. I wonder if it was you @oldboy lol. @WallyR how loose was loose in your groups though?

As a hunting option - out to 200-250yds max. in 308, for reliable killing hits, with 13 twist. I'm not an expert :XD:, yet.
Even with a boiler room like 300WM, I'd be wary of 168+ gn bullets in 13 twist.
150-155gn would be much better - I'm sure @ebf could help there.
I'm still learning LR tricks.
