You got it right in the end though.
Armies had been getting around just fine for Millenia before air forces came along. It may be a distraction to the thread but to set the record straight, soldiers can walk across continents but sailors certainly can't swim across seas and oceans and airmen can't fly ten metres (unless thrown out of a bar by soldiers or sailors).
now rushy -i bet me bottom dollar you'd have been the best orderly room bush QC in the army in your time.anyhow was proud to be a TF grunt for 13yrs(SAS sat&sun soldier) aka cut lunch commando amongst the turretheads ,dropshorts, blanket folders ,food fuckers, 3 ton 4 wheel green helicopter pilots and last but not least A regimental pig to boot!!
now there ya go ive manged to even "insult meself"(RP).whats a spot of pisstake between services anyhow we all know if push comes to shove ye good old kiwi serviceman or woman is there ready to go and very bloody often exceed what is asked by a generous margin
You were virtually a one man Regiment Kotuku.
What would the army do without CAS or aerial resupply?
Still get the job done.
No war has been won without troops on the ground.
Adapt and overcome.
To seek out and close with the enemy, to kill or capture him. To seize and hold ground and to repel attack by day or night, regardless of season weather or terrain.
That wee paragraph is the role of the Infantry.
Some people must read it and decide drinking lattes and missing drop zones or trolling behind a dingy with a .303 mounted on it, is more too their liking. Therefore join the navy or airforce😆
Onward.

Job is best done with the tools that one has.
Troops will get the job done, but at what cost to the troops? Air and naval support can work together with troops, each filling their own role on the jigsaw puzzle of life and if al goes as it should more troops make it home. Air strikes can massively reduce the risk to troops.
There will always be rivalry, but all three are better off with the rest of the team along side. Just like a rugby team has different positions, Some are fast and hard to catch, some are strong and provide support, and some are built like trucks and tackle hard.....
I'm more Outward than Onward these days. My fav motto back in the day was "Who Cares Who Wins"
sounds like a wee wind up goin on here!
