In my recent renewal I was told very firmly that if the ammo was locked in a tin, that is all that is requried, the tin does not need to be secured to anything or locked into another compartment. It really does seem that different vettors have different interpretations of the rules.
I also have boxes of ammo in a gunsafe in the same compartment as firearms of a different calibre (with firearms of same calbre in a separate safe), that is fine too and is even required in some cases, although again some vettors seem to disagree.
That’s correct. Just needs to be locked in a box/ammo tin. Remember the original purpose was to stop the ammo from being accessible to kids etc and stored separately from the firearms
