Finally - Stuff Prints A Sensibe Piece On Guns

Never thought I would see the day that the Governments media mouthpiece would publish a reasoned piece - albeit an opinion piece - on guns that portrays the owners as ordinary citizens

No room for cynicism. The buyback WILL continue as that engine is too heavy with committed peoples' egos to stop, sadly.

But the news needs to get out there so people will realise what's happened and take this into account for second tranche.

AND that it will be way more than $150million cost. Post the link below on your facebook, twitter etc etc and make sure you point out that Nash said in June that $208million was set aside for the buyback. COLFO estimates about 1billion.

The article was already reposted several places, incl NZPA facebook page.

Thats a tentative but accurate article that never would have gotten printed if it was more specific.

The reality is that public safety is likely to be adversely affected by these simplistic reactionary and badly crafted laws. Less guns = more public safety is for the simple. Less guns = more guns in the wrong hands = less public safety is the predictable outcome. This govt has made us less safe.

All that cost for not only no benefit, all that cost is for a worse outcome.

Not only that, but the opportunity cost of creating real benefit from that resource is also lost. More hungry children, more dead cancer patients.

    They are incompetent, idealogical idiots.

Thoughtfully written, makes you feel better, as a FAL-holder.

sidney me old china -cant say i always agree with you but this is as accurate as a fencers hammer on a fencing staple.,and i fear youre words are going to be 105%+correct.

brings to mind an immortal quote "forgive them father they know no what they do" if ones palate was so attuned theres is a rich irony to be savoured.

I don't think there will ever be forgiveness on this issue.
There's another famous old saying - "Divide and conquer".
This girl is on the start of a process to disarm us all.
Even those who were FAL's and critical of MSSA's and owners.
