    Fireams on Public Transport?

I'm headed over to NZ for a tahr hunt in November with a mate. I'll be flying into Christchurch and meeting up with him in Timaru. Question - is it permissible to catch a bus with a firearm in NZ? (it sure as hell wouldn't be in OZ). It will be locked in a hard case with bolt and ammo separated.

Yup, you just need to "check in" your firearm.

I just called the company ahead of time and let them know u was going to be taking my rifle with me. All they wanted was to know what his I was taking so they could let the driver know.

I went overboard with security and had the rifle in a lock box that I chained to the posts in the bus storage, And then carried ammo and bolt etc in my carry on (driver didn't care if I had the rifle with me in the seat)

Put it in a guitar case and just have it as carry on between your legs on the bus. People will be non the wiser.
