How to find a sponsor for Temporary firearms license

    Hi all,

I am coming to the South Island in May for a couple weeks. Checking out a few walk in blocks in Canterbury, then heading to the Beggs block in Molesworth. My one hunting buddy that is coming knows a few people on the North Island, but that doesn't help us. So far we haven't been able to find someone who will sponsor us for permits.

Does anyone know if there is a company that will vet people or even a police station would be able to sponsor a temp permit. I don't mind leaving my rifle at the cop shop overnight if that's the only way to get a permit.

    Thanks,
    Phil

    Thanks for the link.

I have read through pretty much all of the NZ police documents and setup my RealMe account. The only thing we are missing right now is the contact info of a NZ resident with a firearms permit to list on the application. the Police want to make sure we have somewhere to store our rifles when we are not hunting. We plan on spending one night in Christchurch before heading out to Molesworth, then a night or 2 in town before we leave to make sure we have enough time to hit up the taxidermist and butcher for documents that we will need to get anything we harvest back into Canada. We also need a local contact for our Temp export permits to get our rifles out of Canada.
    Cheers,
