So he took a pistol to court after shooting practice (ie he was an endorsed license holder etc), but took it along to a place that had metal detectors on the door..

As far as I understood it, you can only take a pistol to or from a range or a registered gunsmith. Or are you allowed to carry it around with you all day like gym clothes? I wonder if he got in the shit for it?

Accidentally on purpose by the sounds of it.

In fact it was an air pistol. I know craig ruane =decent sort of bloke -ex TFarmy officer ,gunner by trade and has bailed quite a few ex army arses out of legal tightspots.
i think this was an honest mistake ,though i heard it did cost him in a few shouts at some fairly exclusive gatherings.

God the media is starting to really piss me off, what ever happened to journalistic integrity, if it was just an airgun it changes everything.

you can take a handgun to the gunshop , to the range , to the police , and I guess if selling at auction then the auction place .....
