I learnt long ago not to worry too much about what people I don't know think about me. There may be an ignore function on this forum for you to use if you like.

IIRCthe younger itchybums used to come roarin outta the long grass hurlin long green things like flax with a galdioli bulb on the end at ya.bloody things stung if they connected.the occasional toitoi arrow(blunt off course also met a target, with cowboy leaving battlefield temporarily (no bloody yellowcards or concussion tests) for mum to sort it ,then bugger ya back to the fray!! barefoot &shorts all summer, shirt and gumboots in the winter and it was a real shit sandwich when ya bloody sisters beat you at ya game.no wonder our rugby wingers developed such good sidesteps.
BTW which of you buggers was an ace tree climber-higher up, thinnest branches or the best Ive ever seen-bloke i knew used to climb pungas(aka bungies)and perch in the crown whilst we took to it with tomahawks.a loud whoop and timber mickey would ride her down.
there was the odd trip which rendered him stone cold but he always got up so that was fine by us.
hehehe try that today you so called tough boys!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds very familiar, Zimmer. And I remember how proud I felt when the old man trusted me enough to say, "Go and get us a couple of abbits for dinner, headshots only" while handing me his old Cooey single-shot .22. But that only came after about 3 years of VERY close supervision and whack round the head instruction.
What you lot fail to understand it seems is the cops have fuck all idea about the laws. You do realize it's illegal to leave a firearm in a vehicle, even a locked one. You are meant to take it with you. Cops are actively telling people to break the law by telling them to cover them and leave them in cars. WRONG. Very fucking wrong.
Hell, a lot of cops have no fucking idea about firearms themselves never mind the law that goes with it...
Then you get the dropkick townies that have decided they want to live out of the big cities or have a holiday house 'in the country, because we are fucking cocks'. They are the bane of my existence at the moment. Between a few guns and dogs what a fucking nightmare, if it's not the cops it's the spca. Then we also get asked about thing's when it's other people doing dumb shit.
Just remember, the arms code is just a guide it's NOT law. It's NOT illegal to have ammo in a vehicle as by law it doesn't have to be locked up.
Arms Regulations 1992
19 Conditions relating to security precautions
2 c) ensuring that no firearm in the holder’s possession is left in a vehicle that is unattended.
If the firearm is in a vehicle and there is someone in attendance (hopefully not someone who intends to steal the firearm) then that should be legal. It's reasonable to assume that attendance means in the presence of? Therefore, someone in attendance could be someone next to the vehicle, whether locked or unlocked.
I would think that's correct, although I don't know what the Land Transport Act 1998, if anything, says about it because I'm too lazy to look it up.
Ergo what I said.
If there is someone there it's not unattended...
I was referring to what you actually wrote. You mentioned nothing about being unattended.
If you're travelling alone, you obviously can't take a firearm into a service station like BP if you needed to use the toilet. If you asked an attendant to keep a close eye on the locked vehicle and that the firearm was covered up while you're temporarily occupied, that shouldn't be a problem.
Do you not understand that if someone is in attendance then then it's not illegal?
Google the adjective "unattended".
1. not noticed or dealt with. "her behaviour went unnoticed and unattended to"
synonyms: ignored, disregarded, neglected, passed over, forgotten, forsaken, abandoned, left
"his cries went quite unattended"
2. not supervised or looked after."it is not acceptable for parents to leave children unattended at that age"
synonyms: unguarded, unwatched, by itself, alone, left alone, on its own, solitary, solo
"an unattended vehicle"
It's hardly unattended if you're just paying for gas at the servo.
Would you rather have people taking guns into servos or, like that idiot from Sporting Shooters a few years ago, saying shooters would be forced to take guns into banks?
Just don't leave the car unlocked while visiting a gun shop and a few hours later, when you get to the hunting area, finding your .338 Lapua has been nicked out of it.
Or leave a MG42 machine gun in your car overnight outside a motel in a shit part of Auckland and not even knowing your car was robbed until the bank rings you about someone using your credit card.
If you've got eyes on it, and remain close enough to intervene should someone approach the vehicle, then it's not unattended.
