    Well said @zimmer,
We all need to be part of the solution but I see little of that in HB unfortunately. There still seems to be a lot of small groups or clubs wanting their own private range rather than grouping together to do something decent as has happened in other areas. Currently their seems to be a belief that the new government will turn the clock back to what we had before and I don't see much chance of that especially after reading Nicole's statement. I wish this wasn't so.

I see that and that in and of itself is part of the problem.

We all took our gun ownership as a right untill it was taken from us,now its a privilage.Lack of a united front made that easier to do than it otherwise could have been.
As firearms owners we need to understand that individual financial contributions are probably going to be needed by all of us to fund those who will lobby on our behalf. I would love to see retailers get behind this by publically donating a portion of retail sales or advertising products from which a donation coulød be made at purchase.

As a group we are far better educated and motivated than we were pre 2019 as well as now being in a position where block voting has made a difference.

Agreed. Maybe a private contractor like the AA or the M Mob?
In theory though, it should free up some police to do what they are supposed to be doing.

    Greetings All,
While all of the drama of the last six weeks was unfolding I remembered a clip on TV of NZ First marching out of their caucus with National. A quick search revealed that this was the demise of the National NZ First coalition formed after the 1996 election. This was our first MMP election in which National had received 44 seats (sound familiar) and NZ First 17 seats (including all 5 of the Maori seats). The opposition consisted of Labour, ACT in their first election, Alliance including the Greens and United NZ. There was one leader still in Parliament. You guessed it Winston Peters an ex National MP.
Will history repeat itself? I don't know but it will be interesting watching.
    Regards Grandpamac.

I HOPE.....that the delay in getting things nailed down...has that senario sorted...it WAS MENTIONED in one of the press conferences, having a built in and signed off ability to agree to dissagree with each other but it is to be done civilly back stage and get sorted not airing dirty laundry in public...that was my take on what was said anyway.
the waka jumping bill....... not sure where thats at now..but if indeed the three parties have been hog tied together for next three years as one would hope has been done...it shouldnt be an issue
    only time will tell.
we need to give them a chance to find feet and come out swinging before anyone starts chucking rocks in their direction.

The left wing propaganda machinery will "see" division at every stage trying to wind them up.

This will have the opposite effect, a common enemy unites...

I am concerned about the proposed transfer of functions from Police to the Dept of Internal Affairs (DIA).
I strikes me as out of the pan into the fire
the cops are gonna cry foul and say your not backing us to do our jobs waawaa.
no we aint backing you cos you screwed up,
not for the first time and then made law abiding shooters suffer and pay for your incompetence.
to wit 2 years after bieng re upped im still waiting for a securirty check which the cops instead of turning up took not long ago in a phone survey what a crock that public safetys the aim.
if rego is the be all then why 5 years to comply??
simple if we all did it at once they couldnt keep up.and it,d crash
Just get rid of the grumpy negative fools that try to poison the sport for their short term personal gains/grievances. Or make it clear to them that they are not welcome within the sport.
who decides who they are ???you

.therin lies the problem your grumpy negative blah blah blah is someones best mate father uncle grandfather or the female eqivelents so you alienate possibble allies or already licenced hunters straight up.
the only way this works is if we put aside all our petty bias,s and bite ou tongues on the minor annoyances others of a different faction might spout.
everyone but the illegal dangerous and mentaly unstable must be treated fairly and with the respect of at least tryin to do something to help together.

All I can say is Nicole McKee has worked bloody tirelessly on our behalf. She is a legend. This news can only be viewed as outstanding and for once its good news. ACT have listened to us.

They went from a single mp to double digits in short order.

    Why?

They spoke common sense, they said what alot of hard working kiwis thought and called out the nonsense.

This is all great news for the first time in what feels like a very long time. Let's remember to back them up and show support. They listened to us. If we do not support them do not expect them to back us again.

By the same token - ACT now has to delivery on its rhetoric.

"We" may have put them there , but "they" will do what politicians do and chase whatever makes them look best.

Seen it all before - hope for the best but dont feel disappointed if their best is differant to yours.....

The anti gun lobby was on Three news last night as well. Expect them to ramp up the emotional rhetoric as time moves toward the end of Nicole’s work. They are organised and articulate and we need to become similarly equipped.

Alpers -he and his research got arsholed by prof gary mauser (simon fraser university BC canada) when the Infamous 2003 U N disarmament conference took place .his so called re search on nz firearms issue consisted of data drawn from polynesia where assorted liberation armies fighting govts liberated police &military armouries .Not fit for purpose was the mauser verdice after peer review ,and also Mauser further considered NZs firearm licensing regime as the most practical hed seen .Mauser was renowned as a topo notch expert on firearms issues unlike a lot of kiwi academic fuckwits.Ive got the paperwork and a lot of others in my files. Jarrod gilbert -"gangland expert" Canty university also goes into the firearms issue in his la test tome on gangs in NZ-I only prcised what he wrotew -overview slightly left leaning -whats new there
