Certainly this result is a unique and one shot opportunity to turn things around for the better. The shit canning of the clubs and ranges regs will be massive relief to many committees and range operators around the country. It's just a shame that so much work has had to go into compliance for effectively one year to keep the lights on.

An opportunity to reset the firearms scene in New Zealand perhaps, to a place where most shooters are happy, have a good relationship with the regulators and administrators, and things are done that will actually make the public safer.

I'd love nothing more than to be able to shoot service rifle and 3 gun again with proper long guns.

To me this shows what hunters and shooters can actually achieve if we stand up and be counted.

I know this is only the first hill, but it's the most positive I've felt in a long time.

Thre range restrictions were in a large part an attempt to prevent access and introduction to firearms by new shooters. Similar things have happened in plenty of other countries too.Scotland for example requires the licencing of Air Rifles now,in the UK a new shooter cannot fire a centerfire on any range or a non FAC holder cannot handle a Rifle in a shop.

The new government has even at this stage began the "re-nomalisiation" of firearms ownership,A very simple ,cultural and historic fact for New Zealand.

For what it's worth, I vote single issue and it is firearms legislation every time

sample of 1 but I vote every time come hell or high water

You’re making assumptions again and you know what they say about assumptions….
You have no idea the reasons why people voted for ACT.

Certainly interesting times, I hope that we as a firearm owning community really show some serious support for Nicole and give her all the help we can, because you can be damn sure other parts of the populace will be pouring scorn on her every chance they get!

Time to close this, discussion is no longer about the actual legislation and is getting in to personal political views.
