But, but, the shot out tyre caused more drag and thus the vehicle used more petrol and therefore ran out quicker. This enabled a quicker resolution of the situation.
Kudos to the quick thinking officer for his forward thinking and taking the action he did...............otherwise the suspect might have travelled a few more kilometres...,

Yes, I am being sarcastic. Went and handed my prohibited firearms in today which gave me a 'jaundiced eye'. Nothing a few beers wont fix though...........I hope.

When I studied 'The News' at Uni, back in the day, it came under classification of; Docu-drama. I belive it still does.

As above, I no longer believe what I read in the news, the reporting of what happened can easily be far removed from what actually happened. If you fire a firearm at a person your and intention is to immobilize you are a fool and believed what you saw in old western movies when they shot pistols out of the bad guys hands etc. the real life result will more than likely be death if not a complete miss. Shooting out tires is for movies.

im no expert at stopping cars by shooting at them but if i was going to i think my first shot would go into the radiator and possibly damaging the engine as well if presented a front shot

Sorry to hear of your loss, unfortunately after the beers wear off, your firearms are still gone. Hopefully you were well paid and can make up for your loss with twice as many.

    Getting back on topic...

Got to love this statement, although they left a few words off.

"It is a reminder to our staff, and to members of the public, that any event police attend can quickly escalate."
The missing words at the end are.

"It is a reminder to our staff, and to members of the public, that any event police attend can quickly escalate by police when armed with weapons solely to injure and kill people."

Radiator and front end is a bigger (harder to miss) target lots of hoses and electrical to disable too so that would potentially be a better target. But as mentioned, how close is the truth to what was reported????

I would not be SOP to shoot at a car with a handgun. Maybe he watches too many cop shows? If so, he could do with identifying less with his work role.

I've had a tyre shot-out by Pro's, (not this country) at 130kph, I still managed to travel 5k more b4 dealing with it. Back-tyre, they missed the front-first-shot, o/wise I doubt we would have survived. When I heard the Ist-shot, I thought ..Fek,that sounds close.

Probably not the best continent to piss someone off in. There isnt much respect for life in some of those countries.
