A question.
If I have two addresses that I live at, do I have to tell the police and have a lockable cupboard at both? Despite never having my guns at one of them?
Was told by one AO I only need a safe if I have my guns there, but from some Arms lady said I need a safe at both regardless.

same old "interpretation" of the arms code ... I got seriously pissed off with the civvie AO that inspected my new digs when she told me that bolts rifles and ammunition must all be stored in their own, seperate, lockable safes.
Do what I did, and send an email requesting clarification to your local AO. That sorted it out nicely.
I can get you the email address of the National Arms office if you like...

I can see why you need somewhere to get you FAL, but if they are in a safe at an address I have lived at ever since I got my FAL, now I have a secondary address in the Auckland where the hunting/shooting opportunities are zero, seems a bit silly. I usually put my Waikato address for everything but I thought she was ringing up about me being a referee for someone so I added I have two addresses.Quote:

Well had the Arms officer over to my address in Auckland to interview me about a friend applying for his gun licence.
Turn's out that since they have tightened up all the rules recently you do have to have a safe storage place at any address you live at.
The AO was very reasonable though and helpful. I ended up just screwing a eye end bolt into the wall in a cupboard, which I then have a padlock in.
This was considered sufficient, so I was happy as it cost me $2 to do it. To bad I'm never going to use it.
That has been sufficent since I did my licence fucking years ago @beetrrot , cause that all I had then.
The words common sense and legal should never be used in the same sentence.
