From the 25th June 2025, It becomes an activating event to purchase ammunition.
"The first time you purchase ammunition after 25 June 2025, you must provide information for the Registry within 30 days.
You will not need to register the ammunition itself."

Further information, it taken me a good 10 min per firearm to register, everything is in drop down menus and you have to pick a certain model etc which was difficult with a 30 year old rifle and a modern shotgun which both just had only their main model names stamped on them but the registry needed the specific sub model too.
I'm glad mine are done but all I'll say is good luck to a collector or tinkerer!
This logic escapes the police... reloading does not activate any registration. So reloaders must be exempt being good citizens. Go figure.
